The Center for Architecture Science and Ecology (CASE) wants to turn office windows into multifaceted solar power generators. The CASE “integrated concentrating dynamic solar facade” consists of grids of clear pyramids that help focus the sun’s rays to generate energy.

Another potential use for new developing technologies such as the dynamic solar facade could be in powering automated parking garages. These garages, such as Robotic Parking Systems, can accomodate any facade designed by architects and developers and already reduce CO2 emissions as well as other pollutants and greenhouse gases.
The Automated & Mechanical Parking Association (AMPA) held its annual meeting Sunday, March 7th in Chicago.
This organization is made up of automated parking manufacturers, parking consultants and other related companies. Its purpose is to a) serve the public by providing safe and reliable alternative solutions to urban parking needs, and b) facilitate the growth and prosperity of the automated and mechanical parking industry.
Recently members of the association worked with NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) to successfully incorporate the needs of the automated parking industry into international fire codes.
They are currently working on code change proposals for the IBC (International Building Code).

Technology never stands still. Advances in technology that occur in one industry allow for more advanced solutions and new applications of the technology in other industries. Those improvements then lead to advances in more industries and so on.
Industry improvements in electronics, wireless technology, camera systems, computer hardware and software and many other components occur every year. Green spaces and common areas in which people can interact are essential to creating cities that are beautiful, livable, safe and desirable to businesses, tourists and residents.
